Grant Writer/ Research Development Strategist

Duties: Provide individualized grantsmanship advice, coaching, and assistance to faculty, postdocs, clinical fellows writing grants Manage the entire proposal process, including developing strategic plans, drafting specific sections, editing and evaluating drafts, and coordinating proposal submission Prepare and edit text, figures and tables to increase impact and clarity Write and edit complex content for proposals, research grants, peer-reviewed publications and other program activities Proactively identifying a diverse portfolio of funding sources and overseeing the entire proposal process Identify, recommend, and implement research capacity-building activities, especially for junior faculty and postdocs/clinical fellows, that may include grant review processes, seed grant programs, grantsmanship curricula, workshops, seminars, multi-week bootcamps, relevant executive-level research committee(s), developing new resources, etc. Develop and manage, with leadership from the Department’s Director of Research Development and others, the strategic short and long range plans for the Department’s research development enterprise; strategic financial planning and sustainability; outreach strategies related to program communications and partnerships Develop and manage programs to improve engagement of current faculty in mentoring junior faculty, especially in research and writing grants Recommend, design, and manage new policies to streamline research development and research administration processes within the Department and more broadly at Stanford Source, collect, analyze data to track proposal success rates such as tracking proposals submitted and funded annually to external funding agencies Analyze data, create reports, review trends, and make program improvement recommendations. May develop or contribute to outreach strategy related to program communications, development, partnerships, and funding. Coach and mentor staff assisting with proposal development process. Supervise Grant Specialist(s) and/or Research Administration support staff.
