Legal Secretary

The candidate will Research, initiates and/or composes responses to various inquiries from insured, claimants, attorneys, and state or other regulatory agencies. Prepares records, charts, etc., as needed and for month-end reports. Transcribes dictation for attorneys. Arranges transportation and other reservations so as to ensure the best price and possible schedule to meet the traveling needs requested. Maintains files for attorneys. Handles the filing of all documents with the courts. Distributes various departmental correspondence, mail and other items which could be of a confidential or sensitive nature. Provides secretarial assistance as needed, including administrative support as assigned. Prepares and maintains calendar for all cases, including filing dates, deposition dates and responses to discovery. Handles the scheduling of all depositions, including retention of court reports and arranging for payment of witness fees. Organizes all correspondence and pleading files. Opens, date stamps and distributes mail as needed. Answers telephones and routes calls to appropriate person as needed. Maintains and updates form files. Produces proofs of service, serve papers and processes outgoing mail as needed. Performs all other duties assigned.
