Director of Employee Engagement

Duties: Counseling school and central office administrators on requirements of collective bargaining agreements, performance management procedures and disciplinary policies and procedures for all employees. Making timely, well-reasoned and legally supported recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer on employee discipline and ensuring that appropriate disciplinary procedures have been followed. Making timely well-reasoned and legally supported step 2 grievance decisions on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer. Supervising and developing 5 or more hearing officers who conduct grievance meetings and disciplinary hearings. Leading a pre-hire committee in evaluating applicants’ backgrounds, ensuring that school district is complying with applicable laws and regulations. Serving on disciplinary committees to review investigations and to make disciplinary recommendations regarding employees. Serving on ADA appeal committee to review appeals and make recommendations regarding appeal. Providing for appropriate recordkeeping and storage of employee disciplinary and grievance records including electronic databases consistent with legal requirements and district policies. Working collaboratively with Talent and Law Departments and other stakeholders to establish, revise or update labor and employment policies and guidelines. Training and advising staff at all levels of organization on employment compliance matters. Acting as primary contact with the Law Department and outside government agencies with respect to matters within area of responsibilities.
