VP, Assistant General Counsel -- ERISA/Fiduciary Advisory
The candidate will be providing advice, explanation and assessment of ERISA/retirement legal risk to senior legal, business management, risk, supervisory/control and compliance teams and executives. Directing legal efforts in connection with large-scale multi-business unit responses to ERISA and other fiduciary-related regulatory and legislative changes. General knowledge of IRA custodial responsibilities and retirement investment products and services (including managed/wrap and brokerage accounts) offered through retail and other wealth management channels is also desirable. Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and state Bar admission is required. Top-tier law firm or financial services firm experience. ERISA requirements applicable to the development and maintenance of investment management products and services, including alternative investment vehicles and other pooled funds, such as prohibited transactions/exemptions and “plan asset” rules; Marketing, sales, servicing and distribution to new and existing retirement plan clients; Tax and ERISA requirements applicable to qualified retirement plans, 403(b), 457 and other deferred compensation plans Securities law experience as applicable to a broad-based ERISA practice; Analyzing and communicating changes/developments in the laws applicable to retirement plans (legislative, regulatory, case law); Development and maintenance of retirement plan investment products and services offered through intermediary channels. The legal compliance aspects of servicing clients and their retirement plans and other accounts. A broad range of legal experience and skills and a high degree of commercial acumen commensurate with the need to provide general legal advice and counsel to product teams and management of a substantial and growing business. Demonstrable leadership skills and the ability to work with a diverse team of legal and other professionals. Strong analytical, organizational, communication and negotiating skills.
