Description
The Senior Pharmaceutical Manufacturer Relations Executive ensures the Pharmacy trade strategy aligns with formularies and the desired health outcomes of patients. The Pharmaceutical Manufacturer Relations Executive works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.
Responsibilities
The Senior Pharmaceutical Manufacturer Relations Executive contracts and works closely with external pharmaceutical companies . Acts as a key collaborator with Internal Pharmacy Leaders to determine which prescription drugs are covered and which ones are not. Links the pharmaceutical rebate marketplace with the formulary and with Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) and Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) strategies. Negotiates rebates for purchased drugs and purchases on behalf of network pharmacists. Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance. Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision, Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.
Responsibilities:
Handles all aspects of contract management (drafting, review, negotiation) of rebate agreements for all lines of business.
Identifies contract improvement opportunities, and works to resolve
disputes and to improve key contract terms.
Assists Trade Strategy in developing and reviewing annual RFPs.
Establishes, cultivates, and maintains Humana's business relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers during and post contract execution.
Monitors contractual obligations and milestones, and collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure adherence to all contract obligations.
Oversees audits of rebate contracts and contract implementation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related area of study
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Power Point and Excel
Excellent written and verbal communication, and relationship building skills
Strong analytical, attention to detail, and accuracy skills
Ability to successfully handle and navigate in a changing environment
Ability to influence others to achieve goals and meet deadlines
Ability to take initiative, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment
Effective negotiating skills specific to achieving favorable results
Exceptional cross-functional collaboration, relationship management, influencing, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
PharmD, J.D., or MBA Degree Preferred
Previous contracting and negotiating experience
Clinical pharmacy knowledge
5 or more years of significant PBM, or pharmacy industry experience
