Family Violence Hotline and Project Attorney
The candidate must have the efficient delivery of high-quality legal information, advice, brief service, and referrals. Provide counsel and advice and can in certain circumstances and provide direct legal representation in Family Violence cases. Support the Project Director in the supervision of the Family Law Unit grants, outreach, support, and training. Effectively and efficiently provide legal advice, brief service, and referrals to clients. Maintain electronic client case files, enter and scan information into the client's electronic file including documentation of information provided client. Keep up to date on family law and benefits programs to properly advise clients on legal remedies for family safety and financial stability. Identify and develop written materials for clients, advocates, and supporters. Assemble and mail appropriate correspondence and literature to clients as needed. Develop and provide DV Outreach, Training, and supportive materials. Maintain, report on, and update FL/DV grant funding work. Should be a graduate of an accredited law school and current member of Georgia Bar with experience working with persons with low incomes and a commitment to social justice. Working knowledge of legal areas that impact families with domestic violence in Georgia is required. Must have the ability to effectively speak, understand, and courteously converse with individuals seeking assistance over the phone including the ability to use an interpreter as needed. Should have computer literacy, which includes familiarity using email, Excel, Word, SharePoint, LegalServer, and other computer programs. Must have reliable transportation and a valid Georgia driver's license for travel around the state, when necessary.
