Senior Audio Visual Specialist

Summary of Role

This position will be responsible for Audio-video set up, operation, maintenance and repairing of equipment used to enhance live events, such as microphones, video recorders, projectors, lighting and sound mixing equipment.  At a senior level, provides audio/visual expertise, support and operations at all meetings. Handles confidential and sensitive information with discretion. This position utilizes in-depth knowledge of best practices and experience in own discipline to provide and improve services.  This position is for onsite assistance and is responsible for collaborating with staff and management to deliver customer service and A/V support, focusing on meeting operations, integration, and installation assistance in conference rooms. 

Primary Responsibilities

(60%)

Operate and test daily functionality of all AV and integrated conference rooms

Perform routine testing and problem diagnosis for projectors, microphones, speakers, amplifiers & LCD/Plasma Displays

Perform preventative maintenance to resolve problems or identify resolution to appropriate vendor or manufacturer

Respond to A/V emergencies with urgency

Assemble, install, diagnose and repair AV equipment

Interact with NDI Support Help Desk ticketing system to respond to end user requests

Coordinates with staff to determine AV basic infrastructure requirements for any new conference room or media design

Set up and breakdown of all onsite meetings and external events

Daily system testing to ensure equipment and room functionality

Some work involves weekends, holidays and non-standard hours

  IT Equipment Inventory and Management (10%)

Obtain quotes from vendors and work with staff to make sure quotes are accurate, competitive, and in accordance with USG procurement and compliance regulations;  inspect equipment and validate procurement fulfillment

Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a combination of education and experience in lieu of degree.

Experience

5 years customer facing audio visual support experience.

2 years’ experience of advanced AV hardware configuration, design, AV project management and/or leadership. 

Premier level of customer service in a professional services environment. Comfortably work directly with executives and directors and service requests.

Ability to prioritize, work well under pressure while always maintaining a professional demeanor. 

Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with ability to think critically and expansively to solve complex audio visual problems. Practical “hands on” approach, very task orientated, and committed to achieving exceptional results.

Demonstrated experience communicating as a liaison with different user levels and engineers 

Experience communicating technical information to non-technical audiences along with the ability to provide details in an understandable manner to other parties for action

Experience with inventory management

Proficiency with computer systems 

Hands-on experience with collaboration services such as Zoom, Webex, Google Hangouts, RingCentral Meetings and skype for business

  Skills and Abilities

Effective communication and interaction with employees, clients and colleagues and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization

Ability to test equipment and perform basic troubleshooting

Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines

Basic computer knowledge

Experience with Google Docs and Excel

Knowledge of basic signal flow for audio, video and control

Ability to balance multiple tasks with changing priorities

Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written

Demonstrated customer service focus and client communication skills

Videoconferencing experience including operation, call set-up and equipment

  Physical Demands/Work Environment

This job operates in an office setting in an open plan environment and may require sitting for long periods of time.  The open plan environment consists of larger open spaces with less walls, offices or rooms. There can be periods of activity and talking amongst other employees that can be seen or heard more frequently in an open plan environment.

This role has daily, regular uses of office equipment such as computers, smartphones, copiers, and scanners which involves close visual activity, fingering, grasping, and reaching.  This role has regular sedentary work with heavy use of cognitive skills. Frequently this position requires moving computers or other equipment and crawling into tight spaces to resolve technical issues.  This would require the ability to lift or carry up to 25 lbs and frequently bend, twisting, or squatting.

  Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a  full-time non-exempt  position. Core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m however there may be flexibility depending on department needs. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Occasional local travel may occur
