The candidate interprets complex or unusual policy coverages and determines if coverage applies to claims submitted, escalating issues as needed, explaining coverage to Insureds, and writing clear and concise coverage letters. Evaluates and set timely reserves. Authorizes payment within the scope of authority, effectively settling claims in the most cost-effective manner and ensuring timely issuance of disbursements. Performs proactive investigations and evaluations of claims and suits through contact with insureds, claimants, witnesses, counsel and experts. Directly negotiates settlement packages. Works closely with attorneys, account representatives, agents, management, underwriters and insureds regarding the handling and/or disposition of claims. Analyzes claims and prepares and presents reports to management and other internal business partners. Responsible for maintaining and updating claim files in online systems. Keeps current on state/territory regulations and issues as well as industry activity and trends.
