Right to Repair Advocate
Duties: Help line up interviews, editorials and other media content for our state affiliates. Help pitch reporters across the country to cover local action on Right to Repair. Serve as a spokesperson for our campaign through media events, press releases and opinion writing. Compose news releases, opinion pieces, editorial board memos, email alerts, guides, and blog posts on key issues for our program. Bring the problem of unfixable stuff and solution to the attention of decision-makers—including members of Congress, state legislators, and local officials. Develop appropriate messages and materials for making the case to decision makers; build relationships with key players, the region and at the federal level. Develop plans to win in targeted states; assess opportunities for building political support for our agenda through coalition-building, grassroots organizing, media coverage, endorsements and message development. Develop online strategies, including posting on social media and developing graphics or videos, to reach the public and key influencers through social media. Write grant proposals. Build relationships with foundations. Meet with major donors to bring more resources to campaigns. Work with our citizen outreach staff to build and deepen membership base. Recruit new staff and volunteers. Oversee other staff working on Consumer Program team. Coordinate with our state staff and provide training and leadership development.
