Product Analyst - Chicago, IL
Gathers and analyzes data and information pertaining to product offering and vendor base with a focus on maximizing the financial performance of assigned product lines. Assists Product Managers with product line development and maintenance in accordance with the organization's strategic objectives. Creates, executes and leads strategic sourcing strategies including plans for minimizing the
of material acquisition.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Management Support
Assists Product Manager in the implementation of pricing and branding strategies developed by upper management to optimize revenue, margin, and inventory.
Assists Product manager in creation/participation in promotional campaigns to increase product awareness and market share.
Assists Product Managers in the development, implementation, and management of sales support programs.
Supports development of business plans associated with NPI and promotions
Is learning to actively manage a small product category or subset of a major category through the support and direction of the Product Manager.
At the direction of Product Manager conducts market research and analyzes market data to identify opportunities and/or threats that could impact the product category.
Monitors and tracks competitor tactics and strategies.
Provides reporting, analysis, and recommendations on sales, margin and inventory performance of product categories, subcategories, and items.
Conducts analysis and recommends pricing strategies for new and existing products.
Identifies reliable suppliers who meet Lawson's business requirements, delivering high-quality, cost-competitive products.
Oversees the Request For Quote completion process, supplier selection, and supplier contract negotiations.
Ensures cooperation in defining sourcing strategies, product requirements and supplier selection.
Works closely with vendors, internal stakeholders, including Product Management, Engineering, Strategic Planning, Operations, Logistics, and Legal.
Monitors and reports supplier performance via key performance metrics on the supplier scorecard.
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally within teams.
Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
PC literacy – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, SAP, Heiler HPM, Ad-Hoc report writing.
Attention to detail and organizational aptitude required.
Bachelor's degree preferred (e.g. Business Administration), plus 2 - 5 years experience in Product Management, Strategic Sourcing or related fields.
