The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel is looking for a General Cashier/Accounts Receivable Clerk. The General Cashier/Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible to ensure an adequate supply of funds is always maintained for normal operation and to ensure that receipts and cash disbursements of the hotel are properly controlled and accounted for.


Reports to the Accounting Manager or the Asst. Director of Finance in the Accounting Manager’s absence.

Ability to perform mathematical operations with units of measure including, but not limited to dollars, cents, feet, inches, cups, pounds and ounces

Must be very detail oriented and have strong organizational skills. Must have skills in database, spreadsheet or other accounting applications.

Responsible for online check deposit using bank’s scanner, ensuring complete documentation per standard policy.

Maintains an adequate money supply in the vault.

Conducts house bank audits, prepares cashier over/short report and other related internal controls as needed.

Research bank count discrepancies and reports to the Assistant Controller with email to concerned department head and HR.

Prepares petty cash reimbursement, ensuring complete documentation and approval with G/L coding.

Coordinates with other departments and ensures compliance to all relevant policies and procedures.

Daily routing of Expedia/Fine Hotels reservations.

Weekly processing for travel agent commissions with proper approvals prior submission to Onyx.

Timely response and resolution of guest and travel agent inquiries by phone or email.

Send secure authorization form, link completed payment authorization in Opera with routing and comments as needed.

Ensures confidentiality in all matters related to his/her activity.

Prepare annual holiday gratuity envelopes and oversee distribution to hotel staff, obtain signatures from employees upon exchange

Carries out other duties that may be delegated by the Accounting Manager, Asst. Director of Finance or Director of Finance.

Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.

Respond in courteous, professional, and rapid manner in order to resolve all guest and staff difficulties.

Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.

Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.  Use equipment only as intended.

Ensure that standards, inclusive of grooming and attire of staff, are maintained at a superior level daily.

Models the company’s culture, vision, mission and core values at all times.

The Accounting Clerk-General Cashier is expected to be on duty during normal accepted working hours and whenever presence is required. An adaptation of working hours may be required to produce the statements or tasks within the prescribed deadlines.

Job Requirements


Minimum education is high school equivalency, with some Hotel/College training preferred.

Minimum 2 years of experience in Hotel Front Office or Hotel/Restaurant accounting is required. Knowledge of general business systems (i.e. Word, Excel), Property Management and Point of Sale Systems (i.e. Opera, Micros) is required.

Licenses & Certifications: None required

Required to speak, read and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred

Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting 25 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding
