Managing Attorney
The candidate will be responsible for management and oversight of all legal staff members, including Lead and Staff Attorneys. Lead Attorneys are direct reports to the Managing Attorney, who is responsible for ensuring that workflow is appropriately controlled and all projects and client outreach is timely completed. Must have expert knowledge in healthcare law and proven leadership skills. Must have at least (2) two years of healthcare law experience as an attorney in this organization or (5) five years of healthcare law experience outside of this organization. Manage legal staff members daily activities, including process and workflow, legal assignments and projects, and addressing personnel/disciplinary actions as they arise. Maintain an expert understanding of Commercial, Governmental, Managed Care, and ERISA regulations regarding payment, coverage, conditions of participation, and other relevant topics. Initiate training of legal and recovery staff team members based on needs identified through the Lead Attorney and management. Assist attorneys in developing new and innovative legal and procedural arguments and tools. Oversee drafting of complex contractual appeals and administrative templates for organizational use. Set performance standards and goals for the legal team in conjunction with management objectives. Administrative duties or projects as assigned by EVP, SVP, and GeneraL Counsel. Follow all HIPAA guidelines. Should have Law degree from an accredited college or university with five years of experience practicing law, or 2 years of continuous organizational experience. Should be admitted to practice law in any state.
