SUMMARY: The Refrigeration Manager is responsible for managing and training team members in Preventive Maintenance, repair and operation of boilers, air compressors, hot water systems, High-pressure systems, wastewater systems, and refrigeration equipment. Assess processes and areas as required eliminating downtime, unsafe conditions, USDA issues and Food Safety concerns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
Daily supervision, management and training of the maintenance and refrigeration personnel.
Coordinate team member schedules and manage time and attendance records
Participate in and ensure compliance with plant safety policies and procedures and food safety programs to maintain the PSM program for the plant and stay in compliance with company standards.
Maintain high levels of labor efficiency and effectiveness through planning and supervising the execution of cost effective and timely maintenance of all equipment.
Work with the assistance of the maintenance planners
Verify that all equipment licenses have been renewed on an annual basis and that operating certificates are current.
Actively participate in Plant maintenance activities, HACCP, and USDA related issues
Ensure that repairs are completed within food safety guidelines.
Administer PSM and refrigeration programs while working with contractors, vendors, or company engineering in the modification or installation of equipment.
Will be required to travel between the Tecumseh and Waverly facilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing and training a group of hourly team members who will perform the necessary work to maintain the engine room, boilers, wastewater and refrigeration system.
Special Skills:
Able to install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot ammonia, hydraulic and electrical systems; Must be highly organized with time management and archiving of information
General skills:
Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration equipment, electrical 230-480, V, 3ph, 4160V, 110V control voltage, hydraulics, pneumatics, boiler operations, wastewater treatment, and general plumbing are essential; fabrication skills, welding and cutting torch knowledge a plus. Knowledge of a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is helpful
Education and/or Experience:
Education beyond high school including special training, vocation school and or college courses or an equivalent combination of education and experience
5 years minimum experience within industrial maintenance, Boilers, refrigeration field or technical related background preferred
Communication Skills:
Must be able to communicate effectively
Physical Requirements / Environment:
Stand/Walk: Continuously (at least 8 hours a day)
Occasionally (1-3 hours a day); bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder, crouch, kneel, push/pull
Lift/Carry: Frequently (1-10 lbs), Occasionally (up to 35-50 lbs.) Rarely (over 50 lbs. with assistance)
Continuously working around moving machinery, both inside and out with changes in temperature and humidity, exposure to dust and fumes, occasionally working on a ladder at unprotected heights, around and amongst dead birds and a strong chicken odor
