This role starts an employee on a development path to becoming a fully qualified mechanic within the TDW Hot Tapping and Pipeline Plugging operations team. A successful applicant will be working in a fast-paced environment with team members based all across North America. Customers include major oil and gas pipeline operators. A recently developed training program is in place to take a mechanic from the trainee level to more advanced levels by proving competence in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of various tools within the TDW fleet of equipment. Upon proving competency through the various steps in the training program, an employee will have opportunities for promotion and more independence and responsibility as their skillset grows.
In general, the position includes tasks such as cleaning, inspecting, pressure testing, and performing maintenance duties on equipment returning from jobsites. Job set up is also a significant duty, including equipment selection, review with engineering and field technicians, bolt up/assembly, and loading/unloading trucks
Complete and becomes competent in all new employee training and mechanic Hot Tap and Plugging (HT&P) pre-learning training assignments as listed in the Mechanic Advancement Program (MAP).
Complete all required HSE training courses (i.e. OSHA 10, Forklift, Smith Driving, Rigging & Crane operation) and applicable to operation of tools, shop equipment and facility requirements.
Maintains clean, orderly work area and observes company housekeeping rules and completes all shop HSE inspection requirements.
Follow established procedures for reporting, documenting and computer data entry towards maintaining the operational readiness and location of all HT&P equipment.
Clean and inspect equipment for damage or wear in accordance with established quality control and maintenance procedures.
Various tasks such as inventory management, ordering parts, collaborating on project teams.
Performs other duties as required.
Assembling HT&P equipment for jobs per job specifications.
Maintain equipment for pre/post and preventative maintenance specs.
High school diploma or equivalent; Vo-Tech mechanic training or previous mechanical position.
Aptitude to learn and understand hydraulic equipment, such as pumps, motors, control valves, etc.
Intermediate Computer skills - working knowledge of Workday and Excel is required.
Ability to read blueprints is a plus.
Requires some heavy lifting, to be performed in accordance with TDW safety requirements.
