Technology Transactions Cybersecurity and Privacy Associate Attorney

Profile

A law firm in Jacksonville, FL, is seeking a Technology Transactions, Cybersecurity, and Privacy Associate Attorney with a minimum of 2 years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity within a law firm. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in advising on cybersecurity compliance, counseling, and incident response, including breach notification laws. They should also be familiar with US state, federal, and international privacy and regulatory compliance and counseling, such as CCPA, COPPA, GDPR, GLBA, COPPA, HIPAA, and TCPA. The role requires expertise in multiple areas, including data breach investigations and notifications, privacy assessments, data mapping, and records of processing exercises, as well as the development of security and privacy policies and procedures. Possession of a CIPP or other relevant industry certifications is valued. Educational, legal work, or non-legal work experience demonstrating an interest or capabilities in technology, licensing, cybersecurity, or professional services delivery or management is also highly valued. The candidate must have strong writing, analytical, and oral communication skills, hold a JD from an ABA-approved law school with excellent academic credentials, and be an active member of the Bar of the jurisdiction in which admitted to practice. Timely admission to the FL State Bar will be a condition of employment.

Duties:

• Provide legal counsel and expertise in technology transactions, cybersecurity, and privacy matters.
• Advise on cybersecurity compliance, counseling, and incident response, including breach notification laws.
• Ensure compliance with US state, federal, and international privacy and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct data breach investigations and notifications.
• Perform privacy assessments, data mapping, and records of processing exercises.
• Develop security and privacy policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on complex cases.
• Draft legal documents and provide legal counsel to clients.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 2 years of legal experience in a law firm.
• Expertise in technology transactions, cybersecurity, and privacy.
• Familiarity with privacy regulations, including CCPA, COPPA, GDPR, GLBA, COPPA, HIPAA, and TCPA.
• Possession of a CIPP or other relevant industry certifications is valued.
• Educational, legal work or non-legal work experience in relevant areas is highly valued.
