Workingwithin our Engineering Support team, the Technical Assistant will beresponsible for productdata management, including data cleansing and construction of bill of materialsand project administration systems. Acting under the guidance of the Lead Engineer and the Engineering AdminTeam Lead you will support the movement of projects towards completion byperforming system and documentation deliverables which typically include partnumber and BOM creation, classification of parts and other forms of documentcontrol. To be a successful TechnicalAssistant you will have the ability to contribute towards a team drivenenvironment and have the drive to work well as an individual. You will be keento develop your project and business administration skills as well as your technicalunderstanding. Your ability to interpret engineeringdrawings and knowledge of business systems such as Teamcenter will act as afoundation to your success as Technical Assistant.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Support the development strategy of Projects and Engineering Disciplines.• Support Elmar Product Line Engineering group and ISE operations both locally and globally as necessary to facilitate the smooth running of the business• Contribute to non-design related tasks for Engineering projects as allocated by the Lead Engineer or Engineering Admin Team Lead with supervision• Prepare & check associated engineering documents (such as drawings, technical illustrations, manuals, reports when appropriate) and ensure they are completed within the required timescales• Prepare and revise technical documentation, (including for example DoC’s), when required for approval by signatory authorities.• Use existing knowledge and ability to understand engineering terms to classify Items using the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system• Extract, manipulate and import data to systems, using applications such as Excel, Access and similar tools• Research and prepare both file and meta data for export/translate or import projects between a variety of systems.• Create and enter bills of materials in the PLM system• Ensure timely delivery of all assigned tasks and within budget• Remain aware and involved in the QA processes used in the Engineering group, suggesting improvements and implementing changes when authorised.• Contribute to the development of systems and improvement in working practices and processes.• Be fully familiar and conversant with department and company policies, procedures and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are in full compliance at all times• Travel as and when required in order to support business• Carry out any other reasonable duties when requested by a line manager
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Strategic • Able to understand, evaluate and apply technical information • Able to adeptly learn the context of a challenge and quickly integrate new skills • Has solutions and suggestions that are effective in addressing the problem at hand Operating • Be willing to provide colleagues with the information they need to complete their tasks and eliminate roadblocks • Be quick to identify critical information and respond appropriately Energy • Will be energised by challenges and drawn towards opportunities Organisational • Confident and professional when representing the company in person and in writing Personal and Interpersonal • A strong sense of customer focus (internal/external) • A candid team player who collaborates with peers to solve problems • Committed to self-improvement and development through the role in order to achieve career goals • Is known to consistently adhere to ethical principles and expects others to follow suit • Firm and diplomatic when negotiating Quality Essential Desirable Qualifications: • School Higher Education including subjects such as Maths, Computing • Tertiary education or degree in Engineering related subject Experience: • Experience in an engineering administration environment • Working knowledge within a manufacturing environment, preferably within the Energy Industry, and with Wireline Systems • Creating Bill of Materials • Awareness of ERP System • Writing specifications and technical documents Skills, training or special knowledge • Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook) • Proficient in Excel datasheets, formulas, pivot tables • Working knowledge of data management tools and fundamentals of document revision control • Working knowledge of data management systems • Working knowledge of 2d or 3d cad, ideally AutoCAD or Inventor Quality Assurance Carry out all duties in accordance with the Quality Assurance procedures and department/area work instructions. Contribute to general improvements in the quality and key activities of the department/area. Training Participate in training where required. Health, Safety and Environment Carry out all duties safely and in accordance with the Health & Safety Policy, Employee Handbook, procedures, training and instruction.
