Fall Internship - Legal
The intern will support efforts to reduce pollution in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC with a focus on frontline communities most affected by our continued dependence on fossil fuels. Will gain hands-on experience associated with regional energy issues along with internal nonprofit-related legal matters. The intern will assist the general counsel with one or several of these matters. Should expect involvement in various projects which may include drafting briefs, legal research memos, regulatory filings, writing articles and fact sheets, commenting on proposed state and/or federal agency regulations or draft pollution permits, preparing legislative and regulatory testimony and comments, attending state and federal regulatory hearings and meetings with congressional members, state legislators, regulators and executive branch staff. Must be at least a 2L in law school. A driving passion to enact structural change to address the causes of climate change and win is required. Excellent research skills are needed. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. Should have a willingness to conduct a variety of tasks related to advocacy, research, and general nonprofit management.
