Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lead
The candidate will under the general supervision and direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer and Partner in charge of DEI, the DEI Lead is responsible for continuing to move the Firm forward with regards to diversity efforts while contributing to and fostering an agile, engaged, and inclusive environment. The position is responsible for leading efforts to build a shared vision of the ways Hinshaw hopes to continue growing as a Firm around issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion and is responsible for nurturing relationships throughout the Firm to ensure understanding and support of this vision. Develop and integrate DEI initiatives and beliefs throughout the Firm and across the HR platform and employee lifecycle. Create and facilitate DEI learning curriculum including cultural competence and diversity discussions. Assist project management and coordination among Firms’ leadership on diversity and inclusion initiatives. Manage internal education and development of Firm’s diversity and inclusion programs with guidance from the DEIP. Partner on efforts related to promoting Hinshaw’s brand externally as it relates to DEI including coordination of information for annual reports, surveys, and client or community requests. Provide input on Affirmative Action strategies and assist in the preparation of Affirmative Action Plans (AAPs). Serve as liaison between recruiting and talent development to integrate DEI, including onboarding and talent development programs. Provide strategic advice and counsel to senior management on diversity-related issues, especially as they pertain to policy. Compile management reports for the DEIP in support of the organization's diversity business case and strategic direction. Provide consultation and technical support to the DEIP in the establishment of organizational diversity goals, objectives, and strategies, and develop and communicate plans to meet established goals. Monitor internal and external diversity trends and legal developments impacting policy and the recruitment and retention of attorneys. Develop and manage the DEI budget, in conjunction with the DEIP, and ensure expenditures are within established parameters, emphasizing cost efficiencies. Analyze and assist the marketing department in compilation of responses to diversity surveys, attorney satisfaction surveys, and other organizational culture audits, and prepare reports for the DEIP to inform decision making. Plan and coordinate efforts of various departments to execute internal diversity events. Bachelor’s degree required. 5 years of demonstrated professional experience with diversity, equity, inclusion initiatives. Law Firm experience preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail are required. Strong client service focus with the ability to navigate complex, highly-matrixed organizations, establish credibility and build strong relationships at all levels are required. Advanced writing skills are required. Ability to adapt quickly to change and shifting priorities while maintaining a high level of service and support are required. Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion are required. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) are required.
