Shift: Nights varied, includes one weekend a month
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Unit Director, the Clinical Coordinator performs duties by applying professional nursing theory and principles, and utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care given to patients. Works collaboratively with staff and physicians in providing patient care and ensuring department efficiency. The Clinical Coordinator plans, directs and coordinates unit activities and is responsible for staff management.
Essential Duties:
Staff Management
Oversees daily work of assigned staff. Completes daily face to face rounding providing an opportunity for staff to discuss concerns or issues. Acts as a resource person for procedures and treatments.
Monitors time and attendance/payroll through the Kronos system.
Completes selection, hiring, promotion, counseling and termination of assigned personnel.
Completes new employee department orientation, competencies and evaluations for assigned staff.
Patient Satisfaction
Collaborates with the Unit Director and Service Excellence Coordinator to develop, implement and evaluate a comprehensive customer service plan with key performance goals/benchmarks for all staff and the department.
Facilitates customer service improvement efforts to continually improve trends though ongoing system/process analysis by training, coaching and supporting the use of rounding, service recovery, recognition and other key strategies.
Utilizes creative and innovative thinking to keep the service culture alive on a daily basis throughout the unit and department.
Gathers and analyzes data relative to performance and processes, looking for opportunities to improve the delivery of these services. Understands the importance of gathering and using “voice of the customer” data.
Plans and coordinates with the Service Excellence Coordinator to deliver appropriate education/training to build improvement skills of all relevant staff.
General Duties
Keeps Director updated on unit productivity, staff performance and other department measures.
Plans, directs and coordinates unit activities. Works with team members toward common goals and provides a positive work environment.
Works cooperatively with the Nursing Coordinator to assign patient beds and coordinate resources. Assists with coordination, prioritization, and communication related to scheduling and patient flow to ensure maximum efficiency, safety and appropriate utilization of the department resources.
Ensures department is in compliance with policies/procedures and regulatory standards (AORN, CMS, OSHA, Joint Commission).
Evaluates unit for safety issues and completes weekly safety checks.
Works closely with the Unit Director on unit specific performance improvement projects.
Unit Specific Duties
Assist the ED Director with ED performance improvement projects.
Assists in problem solving and development of departmental process improvement activities.
Assumes responsibility/accountability for the Emergency Department in the absence of the Emergency Department Director.
Participates in continuing education including 16 hours of trauma related education every four years.','!*!License/Certification:
Current RN license issued by the State of Oregon.
Must have current BLS upon hire, PALS within 6 months of hire and ACLS within 6 months of hire.
TEAM or TNCC required within 1 year of hire.
Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
Experience:
Three (3) years current clinical experience in assigned unit is required.
Experience in a supervisory/management/charge position preferred.
Must be able to apply nursing process to direct patient care through assessment, analysis of collected data, development of a plan of care, and implementation and evaluation of effectiveness of nursing interventions/actions in relation to intended goal.
Must be able to independently and competently manage crisis, patients and equipment.
Must promote a positive attitude and work environment.
Must possess excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills.
Education:
