Strategic Negotiator, Energy Market Development
The candidate will lead strategic evaluations of regulatory and policy environments in the US-Southeast region, electricity industry trends, electric pricing/rates, stakeholder interests, and electricity institutional structures to assess risks and opportunities for Google’s data center electricity supply portfolio. Develop and lead efforts to further market solutions to Google’s electricity supply needs, including design of regulatory and market engagement strategies as well as implementation tactics. Work cross-functionally with others on Google’s Global Infrastructure, Product, Public Policy and other teams to develop policy and market positions and communicate to key constituencies. Lead energy-related advocacy work with trade associations, industry partners, non-profit groups, and other allies to advance Google’s strategic energy interests and priorities. Support energy supply negotiations, working closely with site and energy Strategic Negotiators. Bachelor's degree in Technology, Science, Law, Policy, Economics, or equivalent practical experience is required. Should have 7+ years of experience working with electric utilities, regulators, clean energy advocates, energy policy makers, or other energy industry stakeholders. Should have 7+ years of experience working with institutions of government (e.g., state regulatory dockets and regulatory intervention). Experience in regulatory and legislative arenas, especially as part of stakeholder coalitions is preferred. Experience working on clean energy policy and regulatory subject matter, especially relating to electric utilities, rate design and analysis, and related topics is a plus.
