Corporate Counsel
The candidate will primarily focus on litigation and claims management, including matters ranging from general liability, workers’ comp, and employment disputes to real estate and class action litigation. Will also have some responsibility for daily HR advice, compliance, and evolving best practices and will support Deputy General Counsel and General Counsel with other legal matters as they arise. Will provide some oversight and guidance to our Senior Corporate Paralegal and 3 claims managers from our Risk Management Department. Manage claims and litigation. Respond to EEOC and other agency inquiries and charges. Provide advice and counsel regarding daily labor and employment issues, current developments in the law, compliance, and evolving best practices. Negotiate and review contracts. Perform a wide range of legal services. Must have Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Active Ohio law license in good standing or ability to register as in-house counsel with the Supreme Court of Ohio. Preferably has between 3-6 years of broad-based legal experience, either in-house, at a government agency, or at a law firm. Superior verbal and written communication skills. Must be comfortable providing advice and feedback to individuals with various levels of seniority in the organization and working in cross functional teams when necessary.
