POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Merchandising, E-Commerce is responsible for the creation and execution of the division’s merchandise strategies, goals, and objectives for North America; directs all buying to maximize sales and profitability.  Partners with internal Design and Merchandising teams as well as external vendors and licensee partners to develop distinctive digital product strategies that create the best expression of the Calvin Klein brand on our O+O site.  Collaborates with planning to ensure appropriate inventory levels and Marketing to support digital efforts to attract consumers and optimize site traffic. Partners with site experience and marketing team to develop key product stories.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

MERCHANDISING:

  • Responsible for the line plan, SKU count, budget, pricing and meeting margin requirements of all 50+ active departments onsite
  • Develop and maintain consistency of brand vision through curated product assortment, pulling from numerous markets and product lines across both genders (NA and EU CKS, CKJ +CKP merchant teams, 3P vendors, and licensee partners)
  • Determine and drive the strategic focus of the overall site. Identify product areas to grow, maintain or downtrend based on performance.
  • Evolve the line architecture to match business growth goals and objectives. Analyze new and carryover products- and establish product life cycles.
  • Identify core-replenishment product improvements that increase profitability.
  • Build and maintain an effective Good, Better, Best product strategy that differentiates Calvinklien.com from other channels of distribution.
  • Consistently monitor and evaluate competitive and industry trends; translate into innovative, relevant, fashion-forward product as well as site recommendations and enhancements to influence in-season optimization and future season strategies.
  • Create product stories with an intent to translate into effective PLPs and Featured Shops onsite, and marketing campaigns
  • Develop a storytelling strategy that drives repeat site visits and increased engagement

FINANCIAL:

  • Work with EVP-Ecommerce, Finance and Planning teams to build financial and business plans and ensure execution to drive results
  • Take lead role in senior management meetings (Weekly Business Review meetings, monthly Open To Buy, Divisional hindsight and strategy, etc), presenting in-depth analysis of total Ecommerce business; must be able to support and validate point of view with facts and analysis
  • Partner with planning to develop class goals, pricing and promotional strategies, and daily demand plans for set digital KPIs
  • Analyze weekly reporting metrics (sales, traffic, conversion, AOV, UPT, etc.) to identify and react to opportunities to drive sales
  • In conjunction with team, lead execution of all promotional activities onsite including analysis, promotional planning, product identification, messaging recommendations, pricing, and presentation.
  • Partner with planning to complete weekly Management selling dashboards

LEADERSHIP + PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

  • Train, lead and develop direct and indirect reports on Ecom Buying team (8 total), serving as the leader of the business, while simultaneously allowing team and cross functional partners the creative freedom and opportunities to act as the managers of their individual departments
  • Monitor development and performance of direct + indirect reports through regular meetings to discuss performance and development compared to goals; maintain a dialogue regarding their needs and concerns to aid in future development and increase retention.
  • Foster an environment of continual training, development and trust.

CROSS- FUNCTIONAL + EXTERNAL PARTNERSHIPS

  • Manage cross-functional team relationships on an on-going basis by providing direction on vision, strategy, and meetings to unify team toward a common goal of Ecommerce growth
  • Lead cross-functional partners in process to synchronize product launches and seasonal product strategy into a compelling customer journey and visual merchandising strategy
  • Collaborate with the Calvin Klein Regional and Global Marketing teams to ensure that merchandising objectives are supported by marketing tactics (media, email, social, etc.)
  • Partner with the e-commerce UX team to drive site enhancements and conduct A|B testing to optimize the customer experience on site
  • Partner with Site Optimization team to create a best-in-class PDP experience for the Calvin Klein consumer
  • Partner with Analytics team to understand business, selling and customer metrics
  • Build and maintain relationships with third party vendors/licensees, and strategically partner to ensure effective communication and to deliver a differentiated product mix.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience:

  • 10+ years total work experience;
  • At least 5 years in e-commerce
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team

        

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

Skills:    

  • Financial acumen related to buying and planning - evaluate inventory, gross margin and markdowns in order to manage financial goals of the product category and assortment
  • Strong presenter with the ability to execute e-commerce strategic initiatives.
  • Must be highly organized & possess strong analytical skills.
  • Strong computer skills: Word, Excel
  • Flexible to deadline demands, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for ensuring the divisional financial objectives are met.

DECISION MAKING: The Buying Manager has a wide scope of decision-making and team input, including product selection and management, costing, quantities, assortments and promotional plans.

RESOURCEFULNESS/CREATIVITY:  Must be flexible to adapt to changing business trends and ad-hoc strategic initiatives. Must be able to communicate clearly and interact effectively with senior management and a variety of cross-functional partners from all disciplines
