Senior Underwriter and Risk Management Specialist- Lawyers
The candidate will lead risk management program for lawyers' book of business. Prepare risk management tips, original articles, and quarterly newsletters. Liaison between underwriters and external business partners. Liaison between underwriting and claims department regarding claim/ market trends. Travel for loss control/CLE seminars for law firms, industry groups, bar organizations, conferences, and client visits. Manage external hotline and risk management partner. Manage CLE webinar offerings. Participate at claims round table meetings. Assist underwriters and external partners with evaluating submissions and policy language concerns and questions. Assist with analysis of program performance. Underwrite individual lawyer accounts pursuant to underwriting standards and individual underwriting authority; analyze risk profile, coverage, structure, pricing, and endorsements. Build strong relationships with our strategic partners. This will require solid communication, listening, empathy and collaboration skills. Manage the relationship of strategic partners, including agents and brokers, including managing the referral process. Monitor key metrics on all accounts, including production and loss ratio trending. Work with the claims team to understand claim exposures and defenses. Work with Products Team to develop wordings for endorsements. Participate in annual audits of your accounts. Contribute to project work and accept special assignments as required. Should have college/university degree or equivalent; law degree is preferred. Should have 5+ years professional liability experience in either legal, underwriting or claims work.
