Director, Family Law and Domestic Violence Unit
Duties: The practice in FLDVU includes a range of family law cases – contested and uncontested divorces, custody/visitation, orders of protection, child support, and spousal support. Our practice includes litigation in Richmond County Family Court, Supreme Court, and the Integrated Domestic Violence Court. The Unit includes a social worker so that we can provide comprehensive services and address economic and social issues as well. Responsible for directly supervising unionized unit staff, including the social worker and a paralegal; managing the unit’s grant contracts by ensuring compliance and reporting direct service deliverables; overseeing outreach and community education, especially with local agencies; working with community advocates to address systemic issues facing victims; collaborating with other units at SILS to ensure comprehensive legal services for clients; and provide trainings on domestic violence- related topics in matrimonial and family law.
