Profile

A law firm seeks a highly skilled and motivated mid- to senior-level Litigation Associate to join its Del Mar office. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex commercial litigation matters, particularly in business trial law. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in areas such as construction, energy, and infrastructure litigation, as well as a strong background in handling business torts, trade secrets, and corporate governance disputes. Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of commercial litigation matters, with a focus on business trials.
  • Handle disputes related to construction, energy, infrastructure, fraud, trade secrets, and corporate governance.
  • Lead trials, arbitrations, and depositions, demonstrating strong advocacy skills.
  • Draft, argue, and manage motions, including motions for summary judgment, motions to dismiss, and complex discovery motions.
  • Take ownership of cases, collaborating effectively with other team members and clients to drive case strategy.
  • Conduct detailed legal research and prepare high-quality written materials, including legal memoranda, briefs, and pleadings.
  • Provide timely and clear communication with clients, keeping them informed about case progress and developments.

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of commercial litigation experience, with a preference for candidates with construction, energy, and infrastructure experience.
  • Proven ability in handling contractual disputes, business torts, fraud cases, trade secrets, and corporate governance disputes.
  • Experience in trial and arbitration, with the ability to take the lead in depositions and manage litigation motions.
  • Strong ability to independently manage cases while working collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on clear, persuasive advocacy.
  • Strong analytical abilities and a methodical approach to case management and legal strategy.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California Bar.

Skills:

  • Expertise in business trial law and commercial litigation.
  • Strong experience with depositions, trials, and arbitration.
  • Skilled in drafting and arguing complex motions in litigation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and advocacy skills.
  • Strong legal research and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage high-pressure situations and multiple complex cases simultaneously.
