The Biofuel Trading Manager role sets the strategy for trading activities involving biofuels including ethanol, biodiesel, renewable diesel as well carbon trading for LCFS, Cap and Trade and Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) programs across Marathon Petroleum's 2.9 million barrel per day coast to coast refining and marketing network. This role will lead a team of traders located in multiple corporate offices and will be responsible to develop, retain, and manage strategic supplier relationships while focusing on lowering cost of supply for the biofuel and carbon books.
*Responsible to develop key strategies to purchase ethanol and biodiesel from producers to supply over 200+ light product terminals. *Oversight of the carbon and compliance books (including West Coast LCFS Credits, Cap & Trade, Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs)) to ensure the company commercially complies with all state and federal requirements. *Develop and maintain strong commercial relationships with all trading counterparties. *Focus on building a highly collaborative team of traders with a focus on career development and progression. *Work closely with the Biofuel Supply Operations Manager, Regional Marketing Managers, and Trading and Pricing Managers to monitor revisions to forecasts and supply/demand balances. *Work with the traders to ensure low cost biofuel supply while managing overall inventory positions. *Leverage exisiting books of business and trade to provide enhanced value generation across all books of trade. *Stay up to date on overall (U.S. and international) biofuel and carbon market and individual supply/demand balances. *Work with the Compliance Manager to keep abreast of changing Carbon and Compliance Regulations and approved generators to ensure company manages the overall positions to stay in compliance with LCFS, Cap and Trade and Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) programs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
*Bachelor's Degree Required *Ten (10) years of experience in a Commercial role required, including 3-5 years of Trading experience. *Biofuel and Carbon Trading experience strongly preferred.
*Position can be located in either Findlay, OH, San Antonio or Houston, TX.
