Business Analyst - Business Dept
The candidate will support identified short-term and long-term operational and practice management initiatives of the Corporate and Transactional Practice Group. Will work in supporting the Corporate and Transactional Practice Group to ensure budgets and optimize processes. Collect data and research and analyze the information gathered about the Corporate and Transactional Practice Group’s operations, services, staffing, work allocation, methods, systems and processes and make reports and recommendations to the Director of Department Operations and Practice Group Chair, and track and iterate on continuous improvements and evolving recommendations. Analyze data and systems and processes to look for better understanding of problems and issues and develop processes and systems supported by implementing policies to replace or improve current methods being utilized. Present findings of data analysis and pitch ideas to the Director of Department Operations and Practice Group Chair to understand recommendations for new or improved systems and processes. Gather information, track, and coordinate with attorneys around pipeline of deals for M&A practices. Oversee the implementation and ongoing support of approved initiatives. Build and analyze datasets to support initiatives and projects. Collaborate and work well as part of a geographically dispersed multidisciplinary team. Establish and review project cadence to provide updates, collaborating with relevant groups to report out findings. Serve as project manager for other project-based work as determined by the Director of Department Operations. Provide leadership and facilitate meetings to ensure the exchange of information that will help connect the dots and drive initiatives forward across law practice and administrative groups. Ensure all the initiatives align with Polsinelli missions and goals. Render support to departmental management in interpreting complex written information and preparing detailed and comprehensive written reports and presentations. Comfortable working with senior stakeholders, firm leadership and interfacing with stakeholders and internal customers at different levels of seniority. Willingness to build a network of internal contacts to help support domain and broader business objectives. Willingness to work in a “hands-on” environment and experience in managing a wide range of responsibilities. Imagine and present a path forward or optional pathways in light of identified problems and issues. Demonstrated ability to focus and provide excellent client service. Understanding of the legal industry or ability and interest to quickly learn about the industry. Ability to take verbal feedback and information and translate it into a project, plan, analysis, presentation or some other deliverable. Ability to present in front of executives and other firm leadership. Ability to take ownership of specific areas, processes and projects and lead them to success. Ability to take direction well and leverage internal SMEs as needed. Other duties as assigned. Ability to change directions quickly, transitioning between multiple hats throughout the day as workflow needs change, while responding with flexibility in an ever-changing landscape. Proficient in Microsoft programs Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Power PDF and Database Management with ability to learn new programs (Smartsheet, SharePoint, Publisher, Visio, for example).
