Systems Analyst - People Soft

Profile

Basic Purpose: A significant portion of this position is dedicated to defining technical solutions. These solutions often are complex and cross multiple areas of the company. This person will work closely with the Business Relationship Manager (BRM), Business Analyst and the business community to understand and define business requirements. They will then translate the business requirements into system requirements and design specifications. The systems analyst will also play an active role in the identification and creation of all necessary documentation as defined by the standard Systems Development Methodology (SDM) process. This position will act in a leadership capacity on projects assigned to them and will be responsible for ensuring management is kept current on project status and milestone deliverables. This position will also assist in post implementation support and system enhancements.
Principal Accountabilities:
• The primary accountability is to translate business requirements into system requirements, design specifications and document new and/or existing application requirements. Ensure that new or existing systems meet business requirements and practices and that all application interface issues/concerns are understood, documented and addressed satisfactorily
• Develop well structured, easily maintained program code. Prepares documentation of developed programs and processes
• Follow all established policies and procedures within the IT and corporate environment. This will include published security standards and coding techniques as well as the documented IT strategy
• For assigned projects, responsible for managing all aspects of the SDM including but not limited to status updates, definition and tracking of project milestones, system design, and tracking of financial deliverables including capital labor
• Actively participate in the Request for Proposal (RFP) process for software purchases, evaluating the results and providing recommendations to upper management and the business
• Ensure all deliverables are of the highest quality
• Follow the established principles of the Information Technology Mission, Vision, Values & Principles (MVVP)
• Prepares estimates for complex projects to provide management with information needed to accurately forecast project delivery dates
• Assist project team with unit testing. Develop system test plans and perform full system testing prior to implementation
• Provide production support to existing systems
• Assist in the mentoring and training and development of others
• Works with the BRM and the business to understand business processes
Dimensions:
• Provide system design, analysis, and support for multiple major application systems
• Liaison between BRM and the technical team
• Lead or participate in code reviews
• Project management responsibilities
Internal and External Relationships:
Internal
• Work with the BRM, Business Systems Manager (BSM) (where applicable) and stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new functional requests/projects
• Work with all levels of IT and business where appropriate
External
• System vendors for software support.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3 - 6 years experience defining, designing and implementing major applications
• 6-8 years of programming experience
• Certification in project management is preferred
Knowledge/Skills:
• Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
• Keen problem solving skills, ability to deal with complex situations and recommend a technical solution
• Must be flexible and able to respond to rapid change to meet business needs
• Strong analytic, problem solving and business acumen
• Strong coding skills required in the language and/or tools of the specific applications area
• Strong database coding, tuning, design skills required in the language of the specific applications area
• Ability to learn new technology and stay abreast of current technical trends
• Ability to translate business needs into creative technological solutions
• PeopleSoft Administration / Development in PeopleTools 8.46/8.48/8.49. Should have extensively worked in SQR, App Engine, Peoplecode , CI
• strong technical experience in Oracle Database Administration (10G,11G) on AIX
• strong in performance tuning (includes Peoplesoft batch and online components) as well as Unix scripting.
• Knowledge of Oracle Tools (SQL*Loader, Export/Import, data pump, srvctl).
• Possess good analytical, technical and interpersonal communication skills, good leadership abilities and strongly believe in teamwork. Ability to learn very quickly and apply new skills to existing problems.

• Understand the install of Peoplesoft Tools and Apps, Appserver domains (AIX and Windows), PIA's (BEA on Windows),
• Project / Data migration using App designers / Data Mover .
• Understand tax updates to HCM databases in different environments.
• Work with DBA to apply tax updates to our demo/development/configuration/production/training environments
• Project Migrations between various environments (Dev, Stage, Prod).
• Peoplesoft tracing (online as well as batch) to troubleshoot slow running processes.
• Participate in production support 24 X 7 (shared responsibility)
• Understanding of PeopleSoft Security for development purposes
