Tax Manager - Strategic Federal Tax Services - Research & Development
The candidate will adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality. Will have the primary responsibility to ensure that R&D projects are conducted in accordance with firm standards and completed on time with on a budget. Due to the size of regional teams, be expected to assist in conducting fieldwork. This may include visiting the client location, touring client facilities, investigating relevant facts, analyzing accounting information, preparing cost lead schedules and cost summary schedules, completing appropriate tax computations, and preparing written reports summarizing the findings. Typically some travel is required. Travel is dependent on location, size of the local market, size of projects, etc. Expected to have a command of federal and some state R&D rules and relevant court cases. Managers are expected to be able to train staff as needed. Required to communicate with clients both verbally and in written form. Required to multi-task and manage various project tasks at once. Project managers will be ultimately responsible for the overall project and deliverables. Expected to initiate internal communication regarding the status of tasks, relevant technical issues discovered, the status of workload expected due dates, etc. The tax consulting practice has less structure than the traditional audit and tax compliance practices. Must demonstrate the ability to succeed in a less structured environment. Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis. Other duties as assigned.
