Complex Claims Specialist - Nfp Community Association
The candidate will interprets complex or unusual policy coverages and determines if coverage applies to claims submitted, escalating issues as needed, explaining coverage to Insureds, and writing clear and concise coverage letters. Evaluates and sets timely reserves. Authorizes payment within scope of authority, effectively settling claims in the most cost effective manner and ensuring timely issuance of disbursements. Performs pro-active investigations and evaluations of claims and suits through contact with insureds, claimants, witnesses, counsel and experts. Directly negotiates settlement packages. Works closely with attorneys, account representatives, agents, management, underwriters and insureds regarding the handling and/or disposition of claims. Analyzes claims and prepares and presents reports to management and other internal business partners. Responsible for maintaining and updating claim files in online systems. Keeps current on state/territory regulations and issues as well as industry activity and trends. May perform additional duties as assigned. Strong interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal) and negotiation skills. Solid knowledge of claims and insurance industry practices. Demonstrated technical expertise and product specific knowledge. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners. Ability to work independently. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions effectively. Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software. Bachelor's degree. Professional designations preferred. Attorney license a plus. Minimum two to three years claims experience, preferably with Professional Liability or Directors & Officers claims.
