Job Responsibilities:
The job responsibilities for this position are as follows:
Develop, lead, and execute GIS’ new I4.0 Transition Assistance Program, including but not limited to: conducting outreach/business development and collaborating with GIS’ marketing team to attract NYS companies to the program, lead assessment of companies’ current state and assist with transition planning and implementation, collect and report program metrics.
Build relationships with industrial customers and funding agencies
Lead and support the preparation of project proposals for I4.0 Transition Assistance Program, and other programs
Lead delivery of I4.0 support services to industrial and government clients outside of TAP program
Develop personal and organizational expertise in I4.0 manufacturing technologies; present and publish technical results of research and deliver short course training programs
Lead technical teams of researchers and students in development of new I4.0 technologies and system capabilities

Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a Masters degree in engineering or computer science, or a Bachelors degree in engineering or computer science with additional applicable experience. An advanced degree (master’s or Ph.D.) is preferred.
Position requires a minimum of 7 years of related work experience for candidates with a master's degree, with at least 3 years working with i4.0-technologies. 5 additional years of work experience (a minimum of 12 years) are required for candidates with a Bachelors degree.
Must have the following specialized skills:
Hands-on industrial experience in a product manufacturing environment, with experience in manufacturing process development and operations management, including lean manufacturing. Candidates with applications experience in companies supplying I4.0 technology to the manufacturing sector are encouraged to apply.
Industry 4.0 domain knowledge and experience in areas such as: factory automation systems or robotics, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) (e.g. sensors, controls, and networking), manufacturing software applications (e.g. ERP, MES), system interfaces, etc.), industrial IT/OT integration
Strong analytical/computer skills and detail oriented
Experience with business process mapping, problem solving, continuous improvement and lean management principles
Strong demonstrated interest in I4.0 manufacturing technologies
Experience leading teams
Strong collaboration and communication, writing, project management, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
Preferred Qualifications:
An advanced degree (master's or Ph.D.).
Optional skills:
Evidence of proposal development experience
Good understanding of manufacturing finance processes

As a core member of the GIS dedicated research team, this position will provide deep industry experience and technology know-how to conduct applied research and to help companies improve their competitiveness and profitability, including efficient use of resources, through advanced manufacturing, IoT, AR, and other Industry 4.0 concepts and technologies. The person in this position will leverage their domain expertise, first-hand knowledge of manufacturing enterprise systems, program management and strategic planning skills to lead the GIS I4.0 Transition Assistance Program (TAP), conduct internal research to develop new technology solutions, and conduct sponsored research.
