Role Value Proposition:
MetLife’s Retirement and Income Solutions (RIS) business plays a key role offering various retirement products and funding solutions to its institutional clients. The objective of Longevity Underwriting Team is to set mortality and improvement assumptions across all RIS annuity businesses with an emphasis on the growing Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) market. Responsibilities include research and development of predictive analytic models to ensure accuracy of assumptions for purposes of pricing and valuation.
Develop and validate mortality predictor models using various statistical techniques, mining through multiple data sources to identify key predictor variables.
Assist with setting mortality recommendations on large PRT transactions.
Research latest mortality improvement trends and recommend assumption updates as necessary.
Build visualization tools to present mortality experience analysis.
Participate in longevity risk analysis for capital management purposes.
Perform ad-hoc data analytic exercises across all RIS businesses including to investment performance, withdrawal, and other key assumptions.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, economics, or related discipline.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communications skills.
7 years of insurance industry experience with comprehensive business knowledge is highly preferred.
Experience with programming languages, such as R, Python, VBA, or SQL.
Mortality modeling on life or annuity products using predictive analytics.
Strong presentation, written, and project management skills.
Ability to work independently.
Actuarial designation FSA or ASA a plus.
