Hardware Test Engineer, Packaging
Our computational challenges are so big, complex and unique we can't just purchase off-the-shelf hardware, we've got to make it ourselves. Your team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google's services. As a Hardware Test Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.
The Google Quantum Hardware team is challenged with building systems that can leverage quantum mechanics to outperform the world's largest computers. As our devices are sensitive, we require creative packaging techniques. Here, you have the opportunity to work hands-on with an entirely new paradigm of computing as it advances from fundamental physics to industrial applications.
As a Packaging Hardware Test Engineer, you will own and streamline the packaging process, which begins with bare devices and continues to a cryostat for mounting and testing. As our project has a foot in both research and engineering, your role is to work with research scientists and engineers to implement prototype packaging techniques and support their development into automated, scalable, and maintainable technologies. You will be responsible for ensuring devices efficiently move from the cleanroom through inspection, bump bonding, wire bonding, packaging and mounting into dilution refrigerators. This work lies at the heart of our effort: packaging and fan out is one of the largest challenges in scaling quantum processors.
There is always more information out there, and the Research and Machine Intelligence team has a never-ending quest to find it and make it accessible. We're constantly refining our signature search engine to provide better results, and developing offerings like Google Instant, Google Voice Search and Google Image Search to make it faster and more engaging. We're providing users around the world with great search results every day, but at Google, great just isn't good enough. We're just getting started.
