Profile

A law firm is seeking a Post-Conviction Relief Associate Attorney for its Oakland, California office. The Post-Conviction Relief Associate Attorney will report to the Supervising Attorney and manage a caseload focusing on post-conviction relief cases. They will provide legal representation to clients, handle court appearances, draft motions, and advise clients on legal matters related to their cases. Experience in criminal defense or immigration law is preferred, and bilingual proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of post-conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate, expungements, and early termination of probation.
  • Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents related to their cases.
  • Attend motion hearings and other court appearances on behalf of clients.
  • Handle open criminal cases, including arraignments, pre-trials, and pleas.
  • Conducted legal research and provided legal analysis to determine case strategies.
  • Interact with clients and provide updates on case developments.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys within the firm on criminal defense matters.
  • Maintained organized case files and managed workload effectively.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of California.
  • Experience in criminal defense or immigration law.
  • Familiarity with post-conviction relief procedures.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish (strongly preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
