Personal injury defense litigation firm is seeking a legal assistant to work in its Pasadena office. The ideal candidate will have experience in personal injury defense litigation in the Los Angeles County Superior Court system but willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates the aptitude and willingness to learn a new skill set. The position requires someone who is organized, detail oriented and self-directed. Must be able to prioritize assignments, multitask, meet deadlines, plan ahead and anticipate issues. Will work for two lawyers. Position includes a dedicated office space, not a cubicle environment.

Ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Experience with the civil litigation process from the opening of files through trial;
• Thorough knowledge of the filing requirements in State and, to a lesser degree, Federal Courts, including e-filing;
• Must have strong knowledge of MS office products (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) and PDF-handling software;
• Must have a proactive attitude and approach to job, i.e., anticipating and handling issues before they become problems;
• Prior experience using Clio and Faster Suite is a plus but not mandatory;
• Must know how to arrange for service of process, court reporters for depositions, order medical records;
• Must know how to handle incoming mail, calendar hearing dates, discovery deadlines, filing deadlines. CCP knowledge is important;
• Must be able to communicate professionally both orally and in writing with clients, witnesses, court personnel and vendors;
• Must be experienced in trial preparation including assisting in the assembly of trial binders, preparing trial subpoenas, scheduling witnesses, etc.

The ideal candidate will possess the above skill set but less experienced candidates are invited to apply. The position represents an excellent opportunity for the right person to build a marketable, career-building  skillset.

Office is located in the Pasadena Playhouse District with many restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Parking is free. Office environment is quiet and relaxed.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
