Role Summary

The Specialist is a key member of Best Buy’s Information and Records Management (IRM) team and assists the IRM team to ensure process and compliance standards are implemented across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for physical records storage operations, including managing user access, and the transfer, storage, retrieval, retention, and destruction of records.

Provide oversight and quality control for organization-wide activities involving records retention, records disposition, and metadata repository management.

Support and advise internal stakeholders on unique, function-specific records management requirements, and develop solutions aligned with IRM policy.

Contribute to the overall success of the IRM program by executing records management projects

(e.g. disposition of legacy databases, compliance audits, risk assessments).

Develop improved procedures to decrease risk and increase program effectiveness.

Gather and report IRM metrics.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Communications and Training

Under supervision, develop records management communications and training material to raise awareness of the IRM policy and procedures.

Deliver ongoing training programs for business unit and retail IRM liaisons and employees.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a business field or equivalent experience.

Knowledge of laws, regulations, rules and best practices applicable to records created and maintained in a corporate setting.

2 years’ experience in records and information management, or data governance.
