Legal Counsel
Responsibilities: Reviewing and drafting legal documents and commercial contracts. Supervising advertising and promotional campaigns in close cooperation with the compliance team. Providing feedback on legal terms and conditions. Assisting with customer complaints escalated to the legal team and drafting routine letters and correspondences. Managing litigation and pre-litigation matters, including coordination with external lawyers. Keeping oversight of various local legislative developments and industry-specific trends that could impact the business and proactively informing all relevant internal stakeholders so that necessary changes can be actioned timely. Securing that legal policies and guidelines are followed by internal stakeholders through training, information sessions, and keeping policies up to date and relevant. Advising the business on overall compliance with local laws and regulations. Conducting legal research and analyses, preparing presentations and consolidated reports for the Group Deputy General Counsel, and preparing summaries (including case summaries). Dealing with ad hoc legal matters as required by the Group Deputy General Counsel and as required by the needs of the business. Advising business stakeholders on a broad range of data privacy matters in North America and the states where we have operations (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Iowa, Virginia, Arizona, etc.). Conducting privacy risk assessments of new projects, initiatives, products, and business processes in accordance with local regulations. Drafting, negotiating, and advising on data protection agreements, and other contracts and disclosures. Drafting and keeping up-to-date internal policies, privacy notices, and other privacy-related documents for the North American operations. Monitoring developments in the data protection legal landscape in North America (US states and Canada) and updating internal records accordingly. Working with internal business stakeholders to enhance processes ensuring data protection compliance.
