Underwriting Counsel

The candidate will be providing legal counsel, answers and guidance to customers and internal departments on real estate closings and title insurance matters and determine the Company's willingness and ability to ensure within the parameters of those transactions. A Juris Doctorate Degree from an ABA-approved law school. A licensed attorney in good standing in Ohio. Should have 5-10 years of real estate experience. Must have knowledge of title insurance rates and rules for all states of responsibility and remain current on all current developments in rules and regulations in the assigned states. Must have knowledge of title insurance underwriting standards for each state assigned. Must have the ability to discuss and review proposed requests for coverage to determine potential risks; to suggest and provide adequate language in title commitments, policies and endorsements that will protect the Company's interests while assisting the Company’s agents. Must be able to issue underwriting guidelines for all assigned states. The ability to prepare and deliver relevant presentations to the Company’s customers. The ability to develop new business leads and sign new customers.
