Underwriting and Escrow Counsel
The candidate will be underwriting Support/ Answer Title Questions. Settlement and escrow services. Federal and Industry Regulation Monitoring. Education and Training agent support. Should have completed a four-year college degree and a law degree; or 3-to 5 years in transactional real estate; well-rounded knowledge of residential and commercial title principles and practices; exceptional leadership, communication, and collaborative skills; knowledge and comfort in making or crafting proactive underwriting decisions that protect the company's interest and simultaneously find solutions to allow transactions to proceed; experience working with complex documentation, legal descriptions, maps, public records, and the processes of identifying and clearing title exceptions and closing transactions; strong professional written and verbal communication skills; capable of anticipating and resolving potential title issues; capable of explaining complex title or legal matters to title agents and lenders; complete understanding and experience in the real estate closing process, including compliance with real estate contracts, lender instructions, title requirements, company requirements, and other written instructions. Should have computer competency using MS Office Suite in the following applications at an intermediate level (MS Office Word, Outlook, and Excel). Expertise using a major title production/ settlement platform (e.g. SoftPro or similar) is a plus. Should have the ability to present a professional image and demeanor to internal and external customers.
