A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Operating lab equipment in a safe and effective manner
Conducting sample preparation, testing, data analysis and communicating results through electronic documentation and verbally as needed
Working to help meet and exceed quality expectations through adherence to good lab practices, timely execution of duties and integrity
Participating in and leading cross functional groups to complete assigned projects
Retrieve and prepare samples for internal and external testing, including cutting samples with a manual cutter and packaging samples for external shipment
Perform calculations to disposition finished product and develop quality reports
Perform internal quality and ISO audits
Communicate quality to the mill, such as at daily coordination meetings, alerts and Quality Leadership Team meetings
Draft quality assurance methods and/or procedures
What You Will Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and/or Environmental Science
Experience safely operating lab equipment
Willing and able to work rotating twelve (12) hour shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays
Willing and able to pull and lift at least 35 pounds
Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
Ability to use math skills to solve problems
Ability to execute projects independently
Demonstrate structured decision-making and problem-solving abilities
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Microsoft Office experience to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access
What Will Put You Ahead?
Experience supporting manufacturing operations
Experience troubleshooting quality issues
Experience in experimental design, data analysis and statistics
Experience in cellulose chemistry
Solid understanding and use of statistical and quality tools (e.g. DOE, data analysis, etc)
Root Cause Analysis experience
ISO Knowledge/background experience
Certification in Six Sigma or other improvement methodology
3-5 years of lab experience
Previous work experience in a shift environment
Ability to perform maintenance and calibrations on equipment in the QA lab
Ability to learn and use pertinent chemistry principles
