Profile

Litigation Paralegal

The candidate will support attorneys throughout all phases of litigation including initiating suit; discovery (including eDiscovery); preparing court submissions; trial; and post-trial and appellate procedures. Assist attorneys in preparation for hearings and depositions, document review, drafting pleadings/discovery documents, and preparing declarations and supporting exhibits for filings and e-filings. Manage documents and war rooms, both electronic and physical, and work with attorneys to coordinate large-scale document collections, reviews, and productions. Monitor rule and other changes in the federal, state and administrative forums where the firm practices. Assume additional responsibilities as requested. Bachelor’s degree is required. Should have 2+ (through 5 years) (Legal Assistant level) OR 7+ years (Legal Specialist level) of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm. Extensive experience with New York state and federal litigation. Federal, state, and administrative trial experience through verdicts as well as experience with mediation and arbitration are preferred. Expertise in document review software such as Relativity, Summation, Concordance or the like required. Should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and administrative skills are needed. Excellent attention to detail and ability to execute through to completion is required. Creative problem-solving skills, reasoning ability and logical thought processes are needed. Should have the ability to work under pressure, prioritize competing demands and meet various deadlines. Should demonstrate the ability to professionally interact and collaborate with colleagues at all levels. Should have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. An outstanding sense of customer service is needed. An enthusiastic, proactive, and positive attitude is needed. Should have the ability to handle confidential matters with discretion. Must be self-motivated to produce quality work. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint. The ability to quickly get up to speed and master new applications and software is critical.
