Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant
The candidate types general correspondence, memorandum and complex legal documents according to the requirements set by each practice group. Transcribes dictation tapes (letters, memos of law, motions and briefs). Proofreads documents and checks for appropriate formatting, spelling and grammar. Prepares check requests for processing with appropriate backup and timely submission to accounting for payment. Types and coordinates expense reports. Enters and edits the attorney’s time into the timekeeping system within deadlines as required. Maintains attorney(s’) appointment calendar. Maintains files in an efficient and effective manner. Prepares and updates attorney case lists. Prepare materials for distribution via U.S. mail, fax, courier, messenger, etc.. Maintains confidentiality of client information in accordance with the firm policies. Interacts professionally with clients, attorneys, paralegals, secretaries, all other staff and other representatives outside of the firm. Should have 1-2 years of Workers' Compensation experience. Experience with E-file, calendaring and docketing deadlines is required. Billing experience is required. Typing skills of 65-75 WPM is required.
