Employee Relations Specialist
The candidate investigates all types of employment complaints and provides proactive recommendations to HR Business Partners and business leaders on employee relations issues. Fosters a positive work environment through full compliance with Nuvance policies, collective bargaining agreements, and state and federal employment law. Identifies trends in order to address broader organizational and managerial issues. Investigate and resolve all types of employment complaints, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour issues, performance management, management practices, and interpersonal conflicts. Develops and applies knowledge of employment and discrimination laws, whistle-blowing laws, rules of evidence, discoverability, and other laws pertaining to investigation plans, investigations, reports and recommendations. Thoroughly investigate complaints, while using good judgment to analyze evidence and make recommendations. Ensuring completion of investigations within acceptable turn-around times. Partner with other subject matter experts including HR Governance and Policy Lead, Compliance, Labor and Employment Counsel, and Security to ensure legal and regulatory compliance while identifying solutions. Resolve manager and employee issues by acting as a consultant/coach through providing guidance on conflict and dispute resolution. Thoroughly document investigation plans, interviews, summaries and recommendations in a timely, high-quality manner. Review departmental case data to identify trends and recommend action plans for business units to implement. Consider additional data sources including exit interview data and turnover to develop holistic solutions to issues. Collaborates with HR Business Partners to ensure consistent employee relations approach and policy application across the system. Review and provide recommendations on policies and procedures that support the employee experience. Tailor and deliver communications in an effective, measured way to help influence the right outcomes with stakeholders and mitigate risk to the company. Provides guidance, counsel, and instruction for management where needed in the application of Human Resources policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned.
