Purpose of Job

We are currently seeking talented Critical Facilities Electrical and Mechanical Technician Senior for our San Antonio, TX facility. Shift work for this position will require nights and weekends.

Responsible for the operations and maintenance of facility processes that maximize customer uptime in the most cost-effective and efficient ways. Professional experience shall include previous facility operations of large plant equipment in a critical infrastructure environment that includes, but is not limited to, redundant electrical and mechanical systems, large multi-module UPS systems, UPS batteries, back up diesel generation, automated system controls, closed transition load switching, automatic transfer switches, static transfer switches, fiber optic cabling, and direct expansion and chilled water systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

Manages UPS, PDU, and HVAC loads to ensure capacities and load balances are optimum.

May perform load analysis and perform capacity planning for HVAC, electrical, or UPS systems.

Performs HVAC cooling capacity analysis and prepares cooling layouts for space and equipment rack cooling.

Prepares schedules for planned work and coordinates shift assignments.

Prepares and documents electrical switching procedures.

Performs medium to complex cable plant designs for large projects.

Coordinates with consultants and vendors to ensure cabling objectives are met.

Oversees cable design from Facility Data Center Techs.

Assists the Director, Data Center Facilities with day-to-day operations, including workload planning, electrical switching, maintenance scheduling, and coordination activities with IT and other groups.

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma, General Equivalency Diploma, or applicable Trade School/Technical Diploma required.

4 or more years of work experience and capabilities in one or a combination of the following areas: Electrical or electronic systems maintenance and repair, HVAC or mechanical systems maintenance and repair, Cable design or installation maintaining critical facilities infrastructure in a 24x7 environment.

Good written and verbal technical proficiencies to support the creation and revision of process and maintenance documentation.

Ability to climb ladders and perform heavy lifting.

Preferred Experience:

10 years of commercial/industrial physical plant experience.

Proficient working with commercial/industrial building automation systems.

Experience operating, maintaining, and repairing large mechanical/HVAC equipment including chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, diesel generators, and water treatment systems.

Ability to establish and execute complex central plant preventative maintenance schedules using computerized maintenance management systems.

Ability to manage and execute infrastructure capital and expense projects.

Ability to manage daily central plant activities.

EPA Refrigerant Technician Universal Certification or any other relevant industry licenses/certifications.

Flexibility to work in a 24/7 operations environment to include nights and weekends.

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $60,300 - $108,600*( this does not include geographic differential it may be applied based on your work location)

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

*Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.

Shift premium: will be addressed on an individual-basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
