A top-tier international law firm is seeking an experienced Privacy & Cybersecurity Counsel to join its U.S. Data Protection, Privacy, and Cybersecurity practice. This attorney will provide strategic privacy advice to clients across industries, focusing on U.S. federal and state privacy laws, GDPR compliance, cross-border data transfer issues, and privacy risk management. The position offers high-impact, client-facing responsibilities in a collegial, forward-thinking environment.

Advise clients on U.S. and global data privacy frameworks including CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, HIPAA, COPPA, TCPA, and FTC regulations
Develop and assess privacy compliance programs and risk mitigation strategies
Guide clients on cross-border data transfers, localization requirements, and international flows
Advise on privacy aspects of emerging technologies, digital products, advertising, and AI
Draft and negotiate data protection agreements and related vendor/consumer contracts
Counsel clients on consumer rights, consent frameworks, and privacy policies
Conduct privacy due diligence for corporate transactions including M&A
Support regulatory investigations, enforcement actions, and incident response planning
Participate in tabletop exercises and incident simulations
Provide enterprise-level guidance on privacy governance and cybersecurity risk management
3–7 years of experience in privacy and data protection law
Strong knowledge of federal and state privacy laws, GDPR, and international frameworks
Demonstrated experience managing complex matters independently
Proven ability to collaborate across legal, compliance, and business functions
Client-facing experience and exceptional communication skills
Experience counseling clients on privacy compliance programs, audits, and risk
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Active bar license in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction
CIPP/US, CIPT, or similar privacy certification preferred
Expertise in legal research, data privacy assessments, and policy development
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical thinking abilities
Ability to lead or contribute to cross-functional projects and regulatory responses
Comfortable advising on privacy in connection with digital platforms and marketing
