Public Information Officer
The candidate will work involving citizen engagement, public education, public information, communications and marketing. Performs a broad range of work in logistics and program support using independent initiative to organize and maintain programs and deliver public education services. Decision-making includes how and when tasks are carried out within an operational process, limited by the selection of the process and establishment of deadlines and outcomes. Assists with planning and implementing community outreach and educational programs; researches event information and/or funding sources; may solicit event donations; determines event target audience; coordinates event program logistics; coordinates event volunteers; monitors and reports event expenditures; and solicits feedback from event participants. Coordinates with residents, community groups, management, departments, and/or external agencies to communicates event information; responds to inquiries; and attends events, as assigned. Provides administrative and program support by preparing a variety of documents, typically produced from notes and/or direction of senior staff; gathers and compiles information; assists with developing marketing, promotional and/or informational materials; and reviews work for accuracy and completeness. May assist with project management including researching funding sources, preparing grant documents, implementing best practices and procedures, making recommendations, monitoring staff and/or consultant operations, and monitoring project expenditures. Participates in meetings; schedules participants; creates meeting agendas from senior staff direction; records meeting minutes and disseminates materials; and responds to inquiries made in person, via phone, or email requests.
