The Principal Application Architect within the Ticketing Technologies organization drives the architectural solutions to complex business and engineering problems. The Principal Application Architect must excel at planning, communicating, and driving architecture, engineering and infrastructure development - driving changes that increase technology performance and availability, reduce time to market, new capabilities across the enterprise, decrease complexity and optimize revenue and cost. In addition the architect will be challenged with identifying innovative ideas and proof of concept to deliver against the existing and future needs of our Guests.

Responsibilities :

Planning:

Support the development of our Ticketing Sales/Fulfillment business objectives

Work closely with delivery teams working in a studio model to design and deliver features based on prioritized tasks

Recognizes potential strategic application of information technology analytic capabilities.

Coordinates the identification and assessment of new and emerging hardware, software and communication technologies, products, methods and techniques. Evaluates likely relevance of these for the Ticketing and Resort Technologies organization

Contributes to strategic plans, which satisfy the current and ongoing needs of the organization's business strategy, and the current and future capabilities

Determines the strategic approach to understanding stakeholder objectives and requirements.

Leads development and communication of the organization's policies for corporate governance of information

Develop long term technical roadmap

Evaluate and optimize estimates from development teams to ensure quality and accuracy

Communicating:

Determine how to solve business problems by asking questions and understanding value propositions

Plays an active and dynamic role in improving interactions between Ticketing Technologies Delivery, Solution Engineering, and other partners by facilitating knowledge flow to enable sharing and development of creative ideas

Effectively liaison between Managers, Solution/Architecture Engineering, Development, and Operations teams to implement large and complex engineering solutions

Works with Product Owners to establish effective relationships between stakeholders, including responsibility for the relationship between technology functions and end users

Actively manages relationships with the most senior stakeholders, and is the ultimate escalation point for technical issue resolution

Manage and appropriately escalate delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes tied to the engineering initiatives to the stake holders

Driving Architecture/Engineering/Infrastructure Development:

Initiates and manages investigation and development of innovative methods, practices and technology, to the benefit of Ticketing Fulfillment Organization

Lead and manage implementation of complex engineering solutions across the Ticketing Fulfillment organization

Takes technical responsibility for all stages and/or iterations in a software development project, providing method specific technical advice and guidance to project stakeholders.

Sets local or team-based standards for programming tools and techniques, including security guidelines, and the selection of appropriate development methods. Advises on application of standards and methods and ensures compliance

Controls system design practice within Ticketing and Resort Technologies organization

Provides organizational leadership and guidelines to promote the development and exploitation of specialist knowledge in the Ticketing and Resort Technologies organization

Lead and provide technical leadership to architects, leads, and developers in geographically dispersed locations

Ensures adherence to relevant technical strategies, policies, standards, and practices (including security)

Promotes clear decision making, leading to valid reasons for technology-related acquisitions

Monitors provision of services, levels of service, and service quality

Produces models in support of business strategy

Has in-depth knowledge of a broad range of industry-wide modelling techniques

Responsible for planning and coordinating team modelling activities and for ensuring the quality of their work

Ensure alignment between technology investment (RA) and business strategy roadmaps

Basic Qualifications :

10-15 years’ experience in technology

7 years’ experience in architecting and designing complex digital systems, SOA Services and databases in large companies

Required knowledge and understanding of technical architecture, application systems design and integration in a large heterogeneous enterprise environment with hands on experience in SOA, Angular/Node/React, Java/J2EE, JSON Messaging, XML, Apache TomCat, Rules Engine, MS-SQL programming methodologies

Modern web/app development technologies (JavaScript, Angular, ~~~, Mocha, Chai, Sinon, Grunt, Bower)

Knowledge of cloud based services, high availability systems (AWS, Azure, ServiceNow, etc.)

Demonstrated knowledge of Enterprise Integration Patterns

Has solid understanding of the software development life cycle SDLC (e.g. requirements, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and documentation) and associated execution models (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, Iterative Development, etc.)

Experience with Software Performance Optimization (memory, CPU, scaling, etc...)

Experience with Spring/Spring-Boot

Expertise in Object Oriented Programming

Experience with Development Tools (Eclipse IDE or similar, Maven)

Strong knowledge in Database Design

Experience with secure use of HTTP Protocol

Experience with Web Services (SOAP & REST)

Experience in working with OpenSource code and frameworks a must

Demonstrated experience in leading and managing large engineering initiatives and team

Strong technical knowledge of digital environment including Mobile, Web, Apps, APIs, Messaging, Databases, Big Data, Networks and their Interactions

Experience using source code control

Experience in proposing and conducting POCs in latest technology trends

Proven experience influencing business and technology leadership

Demonstrated professional written, verbal, and presentation communications skills

Must be detail-oriented, self-organized, committed to quality and be capable of tracking multiple issues simultaneously

Ability to function in a virtual team setting and work with resources in multiple sites (onsite, offshore, near shore)

Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively

Strong problem solving and analysis skills

Knowledge of unit testing, behavioral testing and continuous integration

Demonstrated understanding of the importance of maintainable / sustainable product solutions

Experience collecting, reviewing and updating requirements and/or user stories

Experience writing technical documentation and providing engineering deliverables

Excellent leadership, communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications :

Understanding of the Theme Park Ticketing operations domain

Scrum Master certification or similar Agile and/or SDLC certifications are a plus

A thorough understanding and passion for Agile principles

Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman a plus

Experience using a change management approval process

Experience in Advanced and Emerging Payment Solutions a plus

Experience working in a multi-national and multicultural environment

Ability to embrace organizational change

Demonstrates strong ability to influence without authority

Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills

Experience with QA and software analytic tools is a plus

Strong understating of cryptography, certificates and security solutions

Proven ability to work with all members of an extended and diverse project team

Required Education :

Bachelor’s degree in a technology related field (i.e. Computer Science, Information Systems, mathematics, engineering or other scientific or technology discipline), or a minimum of 10 years of software development experience.
