Responsibilities: Timely review of alerts requested by RCM Central Team and SMEs, based on notices issued by regulatory authorities (e.g. legislative bodies; departments; administrative agencies; and self-regulatory organizations) to confirm applicability and legal interpretation of potential impact to SMBC Group. Provide explanation and advice on applicability and interpretation in a manner suitable for internal stakeholder and external regulatory reviews. Timely and effective communication with internal stakeholders to confirm applicability of new regulations, and provide advice (in consultation with senior members of the Legal Department) on how a given regulatory change may impact the activities of SMBC Group. Maintain broad and general awareness of new and key regulatory developments to support (or generate) information sharing to impacted stakeholders and governance teams. Ongoing support of regulatory projects by as subject matter expert. Support the enhancement and maintenance of policy and procedures of RCM activities as appropriate. General legal counsel responsibilities include, but are not limited to:. General corporate practice as part of the Legal Department. Dealing with internal clients and management. Regulatory filing compliance assistance. Review of documents and negotiation of contracts. Review of internal policies and procedures.
