Chief Practice Officer, Energy and Infrastructure

Duties: Work with firm and Business Unit leadership to advance the firm’s strategy to be a global leader in Tech & Innovation, E&I and Finance. Work with Business Unit Leaders and Practice Group Leaders to create and implement groups’ strategic business plans. Monitor business plan performance throughout the year; suggest and implement proactive measures to achieve business plan priorities. Work with BUL’s, PGL’s and our Client Relationship Team to help identify opportunities for client growth and execute on key client initiatives. Be deeply knowledgeable about the market and client opportunities and act as trusted advisor to leaders and partners in the Business Units. Work with BUL’s, PGLs, partners and firm leaders lo help achieve the firm’s profitability objectives and to advance our key performance metrics. Work collaboratively the firm’s business professional team to advance firmwide strategic priorities within the Business Units. Work with our finance and practice management professionals to monitor practice group, client and partner profitability and other practice management metrics. Identify issues and work directly with partners and leaders to address opportunities. Utilize profitability and matter management tools in counseling lawyers on client selection, matter management and staffing issues. Together with BU practice managers, oversee associate utilization and identify opportunities to align resources with client demand, with a focus on maximizing both profitability and associate satisfaction; critically evaluate all associate new hire decisions. Ensure that attorneys in the business units and practice groups are meeting and communicating regularly and effectively on issues relating to practice development, business development, talent development, and financial performance. Act as a trusted advisor to BU partners, including addressing questions about firm and BU strategy, building consensus, and creating a one-firm culture. Work collaboratively with our Communications professionals to ensure our partners globally understand the unique value proposition BU practices offer to clients. Work with BULs and PGLs to develop and manage annual revenue and expense budgets. Collaborate with our Inventory Management professional team to manage the billing and collections process for the Business Unit. Maintain a consistent dialogue with billing attorneys and the billing and collections staff and work closely with billing attorneys to resolve issues. Together with our Finance professionals, ensure we have an efficient process to review and approve write-offs, non-billable expenses, and other financial areas; provide personal oversight as needed. Prepare collections projections and analyses. Support the Operations Team and the BULs in achieving annual revenue targets. Work with BUL, PGLs and Chief Growth and Integration Officer to develop and execute on lateral recruiting and integration strategies for BU. Analyze partner performance and participate in the partner review/compensation and promotion processes. Partner with our Talent team and BU partners to ensure we execute on our Best Place to Work strategy so that we can attract and retain the best partner and associate talent. Identify new and creative approaches to talent management that reflect an in-depth understanding of practice dynamics and economics.
