The primary role of the Training Specialist for Lyondellbasell is to plan, organize and implement all training requirements for operations employees. This requires overall coordination of production, scheduling, health and safety, quality assurance, coaching and development, and continuous improvement activities within the process areas. The Training Specialist is responsible for assuring that all operations employees training requirements are met and maintained.
Roles & Responsibilities
Coordinates, designs, developments, and revisions of computer-based training modules, technical training manuals, trainee plans/workbooks and tests to develop and keep training materials evergreen. Provides training and facilitation of classes, workshops, and safety meetings to meet desired training objectives.
Develop, plan, organize, schedule, and manage training initiatives to achieve the desired training objectives.
Primary interface to asset teams for training needs, routinely assesses training matrix, and acts to close existing and anticipated training requirements. Provide ownership and achieve closure on comprehensive training plans to achieve the required training skill/proficiency.
Develops training materials, evaluations and assessments in conjunction with process SMEs using instructional design and adult learning theory.
Provide onboarding and orientation training for all hourly new hires
Asses and evaluate new hire trainees on performance at completion of new hire orientation.
Provides certification/recertification training to operations employees.
Schedule and report out Layered Process Audits findings
Able to present ideas and information effectively to individuals and groups.
Able to provide leadership to groups to achieve desired results in the role of a trainer, facilitate technical review, or group leader. Lead, organize, or coordinate the following group activities; training classes, coordinate technical review workshops, and planning meetings.
Able to express ideas and information clearly in written correspondence of all types, applying correct grammar, language, and terminology. Able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to achieve the desired results and control group dynamics when developing workers.
To learn and apply training principles, practices, and procedures to the job duties and responsibilities.
To interact with subject matter experts and other identified resources to achieve the desired results of training initiatives.
Skilled at time management and effectively managing classrooms. Experience in working with databases to generate reports, analyze information, and troubleshoot problems is preferred.

Physical demand requirements include sitting and walking. Must be able to lift, push and pull items up to 20 lbs. Position requires having a moderate amount of endurance and should have a sense of balance. Must have the ability to grasp and hold onto items, some as small as a pencil. Position also requires sensory abilities of seeing and must be able to distinguish colors. Also, requires being able to communicate by verbal and written measures. Tasks are complex and require daily varying degrees of intensive concentration, time pressure with deadlines, conceptual thinking, and analytical thinking.
Minimum of 5 years of plant experience. Multiple department experience is preferred. Must understand LyondellBasell products and quality business drivers. Must also have good understanding of AKO plant technologies. Above average verbal and written communication skills. Change Management skills are also needed. Must be well experienced in use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Incumbent must have a high level of personal drive and initiative.
